On Tuesday morning I was near the Arc de Triomphe, watching the ceremony in remembrance of the Armistice that ended World War I, and in honor of the ( French ) victims of that war. It was very impressive and colorful. Two pictures are added here, one of the grave of the Unknown Soldier and the eternal flame burning at that grave, the other of a bugle player on a horse. The inscription at the grave says " Here rests a French soldier, who died for his country, 1914-1918 ". An official website has been created to honor "the millions of women and men who during the conflicts of the modern era fought - and often gave their lives - for freedom ".
