Gideon Levy, whom we know generally as the whistle blower of Israel's bad behavior towards the Palestinians, courageously takes up the defense of Yigal Amir's basic human rights. Levy has a point, he is right when he writes that Amir has been transformed into the devil incarnate and that nobody really speaks up to question the punishments imposed on Yitzhak Rabin's murderer: "The right will never dare to come out in his defense, lest it be blamed once again for his action; the left dumps on him all of its anger and frustration; and even human rights organizations, which courageously defend the rights of Palestinian terrorists, keep mum when it comes to Amir's case." Even though I do not agree with the title of Levy's piece ( Yigal Amir is not and he never should be considered " a murderer like any other " ), it provides us with some food for thought.
