In the latest issue of The Jerusalem Report I read a good column, by Hirsch Goodman, on the joke that is Israel's Foreign Ministry these days. The blunder made by the Foreign Minister and - especially - his wife in Egypt I had missed. The article's conclusion: "A bad scriptwriter could not have come up with an episode in a bad soap as ridiculous as the Judy-Madonna affair. Hopefully, however, it will serve to cast an intense spotlight on the Foreign Ministry, whose professional standard is of critical importance to Israel, an office responsible for building relations with other countries not destroying them through stupidity."
