Regarding " Chirac roasts British food ", IHT, July 5, 2005: Whereas someone who is hungry but not fond of British cuisine has so many excellent culinary options to choose from while in London, someone who has to use a toilet after having a good meal in Paris often faces a serious problem without having a real alternative. As much as I love spending time in the French capital, I think that the toilets in the city's public places, malls and restaurants are often an absolute disgrace. President Chirac's remarks should be considered against the background of the competing bids of London and Paris to host the 2012 Olympics. With public toilets in Paris in their current state I wonder what they will look like if millions of additional visitors crowd the city.
