The French embassy in NY was right to cancel its participation in a party ( that is what it is called in the article ) for the publication of a book about one of the worst and most anti-Semitic French collaborators, Louis Darquier de Pellepoix, who was directly responsible for Vichy's Jewish policies. In the book's postscript its author basically links the fate of Jews in France under Vichy and the Germans with "what the Jews of Israel [are] passing on to the Palestinian people". One can wonder what the historical value of the work of such an author can be, and why one embassy official calls the book a masterpiece. Suspicions about the academic weight of the book become even stronger when we read about the personal relationship that Carmen Callil had with Darquier de Pellepoix' daughter.
