While some Israelis criticize Austria because of the still very significant role played in that country's local and national politics by a far-right party formerly led by Georg Haider, others - including our Prime Minister - continue to flirt with Mr Haider's Israeli counterparts. What is really scary is the fact that Mr Olmert discussed with Mr Lieberman of all people the creation of a constitution for Israel - something that should have been done long ago, but I do hardly feel comfortable with the likes of Lieberman having a decisive vote on that subject - and a change of the form of goverment towards what is labeled a 'presidential system'. Although the state as such is not really working in Israel, I could think of a better time to promote such a system, especially with the troubles Israel's current president is having.
