It is sad to see that even on a day when the people of Israel - both the state and the nation, that is - are supposed to unite more than usually, we turn out to be oh so divided. Religious and political divisions are enormous within the not always so Jewish state, I know, but when I read that religious Jews - some of them bereaved parents and siblings, others not - are unable and unwilling to grant a bereaved father the respect that he - as a bereaved parent and as a Jew - deserves only because his interpretation of our religion is not exactly or not at all like theirs, I feel sadder and more pesimistic than on an average day.
