This is a bit cynical, isn't it? For decades Israel has dealt poorly with its own Holocaust-survivors, in more than one respect. Many of those survivors live below the poverty line. As Finance Minister Binyamin Nethanyahu had just as much consideration for this particular category of needy citizens as he had for other poor Israelis , but now, as head of the opposition, he claims that we should not economize on the survivors. I find it hard to believe that his and his party's record when it comes to taking care of the surviving survivors is better than that of other parties. Economizing is wrong, but capitalizing is o.k., it seems.
