At least one thing I do not understand about the plea bargain in former president Katsav's case: if he is really not guilty and only the victim of a witch hunt, why did he sign the bargain? I understand that he is going through difficult times - which, by almost all accounts, he brought upon himself and upon his family through his behavior, which was more than simply improper in the best and absolutely criminal in the worst case - but I find it hard to believe that someone who believes in his own innocence and knows that he has nothing to fear from the truth will agree to be indicted for " a series of indecent assaults..., a sexual harassment offense...., and harassing a witness" ( an indictment which, if I am not mistaken, includes a sex offender's record ) only to get the whole case over with and to spare his family more suffering.
