I stopped following all attempts in Britain and elsewhere to single out Israeli academics, business etc. for boycotts, simply because I do not have the time or the patience for it. I was pleasantly surprised, though, to read on Yael's blog that apparently ( some ) British students are much smarter ( and way more concerned about finding solutions rather than declaring this or that party more or less guilty ) than ( some of ) their teachers. While the University and College Union adopted a motion that could lead the way to a boycott of Israeli academics, the president of the National Union of Students issued a very thought- and helpful statement: "Such a boycott undermines the Israeli academics who support Palestinian rights, and hinders the building of bridges between Israelis and Palestinians. Retaining dialogue on all sides will be crucial in obtaining a lasting peace in the Middle East ".
