Forward...backward

This week's editorial from the Jewish Forward ( פארווערטס) deals with a country that is more and more going backward. One of the last valid arguments that leftwing Zionist could use when defending their country - that Israel was the only democracy in the Middle East - is not as true anymore as it used to be. Kol HaKavod for these members of Meretz, for their defiance of the thought controlers. This law will in the end just make it much easier for Israel-bashers to successfully push for boycotts of products, artists, academics etc. from Israel proper, rather than of only those from outside the Green Line.

If Israel and its so-called supporters stopped looking at all the many, many problems and shortcomings on 'the other side', and instead started working on all that is our own fault, on the problems that we can solve ourselves, and the things that we can improve entirely on our own, we will suddenly discover that it will be much, much easier to deal with the problems caused by outsiders. But no, of course, we prefer pointing at all the wrongs on the Palestinian/Arab/Muslim etc. sides, making excuse after excuse not to do anything about the much, much bigger dangers created and perpetuated by ourselves.

Dear Bert,

You seem to imply that the "non existent partner" as is shown in the above link is a problem that can be solved or, at least mitigated, by action on the Israeli side.

I laud your optimism however I'm not an optimists. As far as I can see the only way Israel can solve the above problem is by unmaking Israel and sending its Jewish population elsewhere...
